I notice much like on other podcasts.. few people leave comments anymore. I won’t let that stop me. Ive spent about 3 weeks in Dubai in the past 2 years, mostly preparing work and getting visas for other countries. You should really go there. Why? above all your love of malls.. Dubai would be your.. pardon the pun – mecca. Malls like you would never find in the US.. (maybe the MOA). In terms of foreign workers, everyone is a foreign worker, you’ll rarely see an Emiratee citizen, especially doing any work.. there are different classes of foreign workers. The ones you never see are surely those living harsh lives, but many you meet are doing ok, making money to send to their families in the Phillipines, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Nigeria, etc. You would love sitting in a taxi in Dubai, I could picture you recording amazing conversations. I never had the nerve to spoil those beautiful moments by pulling out my recorder (ironic for a podcaster). Foreign women would have no problem in Dubai, maybe no short skirts and wear a head cover in certain holy sites, otherwise they can do whatever. Its a double standard to some extend. Don’t mistaken Dubai for Saudi Arabia.. its a whole different seen. Its not the greatest country and theres plenty of crap, but its so fascinating and it can be a whole lot of fun. Plus you can fly there on the A380 and I know you’d want that!
I don’t comment because much like other podcasters, Frank makes no attempt to engage his audience in the comments section. I’m not angry or anything, I just realize that expecting any sort of interaction with the host is unreasonable here and that’s probably a contributing factor to why the audience is so silent.
Mark, I am fascinated by Dubai… maybe I will go there someday…
Steve, I do respond to comments from time to time, but probably not enough. Managing this aspect of things is tough… I’ve had a number of forums and chat rooms come and go… and there’s Twitter and Facebook of course… and the fact that I post my show on both TheOvernightscape.com and onsug.com…
And of course, both these sites could do with an overhaul… but beyond all of this my main focus is to keep doing the show, which has been working out quite well. But I do want to work on fixing all the other stuff.
