The RamplerThis is an idea that has been brewing for awhile, that suddenly all came together for me yesterday. I figured, what the heck, may as well get it going immediately - if it doesn’t work out, no big deal. It’s an experiment. Here is the description from ONSUG:
Join host Frank Edward Nora his daily commute, walking through the streets of NYC, as he discusses a dizzying myriad of topics. This show is an experimental “spinoff” of Frank’s main show, The Overnightscape (which continues on as normal). The show is recorded directly as a 128kbps MP3 file on an Edirol R-09 portable recorder. This makes it much easier to release the recordings, since no post-production is required. Also, at least to start with, the shows will be released without show notes to further speed up the release process.
“The Rampler” is released here on The Overnightscape Underground, but it exists outside the standard “Day” format - again, to make it easier to very quickly record and release.

“The Rampler” sounds like a good idea for what used to be the NYC audio field trips, I think it makes more sense of it. I can understand why you’d want to put it in the ONSUG feed though I think it’ll work just as well if you put it in the regular feed. If nothing else it does help define that portion of your audio word and I look forward to hearing them in the upcoming future.

I see you’ve gone back to the old colour scheme on the site, looks better than the green imo, perhaps you should put up the old photo too as you look like you’re doped up in the current one.

That picture I put up is from 2004, the same time period as the “retro logo”. It is a pretty bad picture. I gotta get a new one, maybe I’ll have my wife take a pic of me today.

Love The Rampler! I’m glad that you put this in the ONSUG instead of a separate feed. Keep up the great content! I always feel as if I am in New York / New Jersey without the expenses. Thank You

OK I took a picture of myself today and put it up on the header… that old pic was so bad, I looked so much older than on the new pic, though I was actually 5 years younger… weird…

Have not had a chance to listen to the new ramplers but I do have a small question: Is it possible to have a separate rss-feed for the ramplers (not a separate website). I download the onsug day material with the big files and would like to have an easy way to download the ramplers.

Joe: The purpose of The Rampler is the same as all of The Overnightscape… to put on a show, talk about stuff, go on adventures… it’s a performance, like a comedian, a singer, a writer… I got something to say and I’m saying it…

I wonder if there’s some way for us to organise our iTunes so that it seperates the Ramblers from the other ONSUG releases based on tags? I dunno, just a thought.

Neal: In iTunes, it’s very easy to sort out by album tag. The Days are tagged as “Day 03 (Spring 2008) - onsug.com”, for example, and The Rampler is tagged as “The Rampler”
